Whopping month for car sales in Algeria, up 60% year-on-year at 26,200 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 246,853 units, up 33%. For the second month in a row, Hyundai leads the models ranking (traditionally a Renault privilege) with 5,692 sales and 21% share, up 142% year-on-year (!) vs. 3,612 units and 13.8% share for Renault.
For the first time, the Hyundai Atos takes the lead of the Algerian market with a very impressive 2,648 sales and 10.1% share. Another surprise follows: the new Chevrolet Sail, imported from China, improves again and gains 2 ranks on September to land in 2nd place with a record 2,028 units and 7.7% share. It is now #10 year-to-date with 5,975 sales even though it is only on sales since May.
Excellent performance for the Hyundai Accent at a very robust 1,909 sales and 7.3% share vs. 4.8% year-to-date, while the Renault Symbol, still #1 year-to-date by far at 26,109 sales and 10% share, is down to a humbling 5th place at 5.3% share. The Peugeot 207 is back in the Top 10 at #5, the Kia Picanto is solid again at #6 and the Dacia Logan is down to #7.
